"Therefore, the underlying cause of death is based essentially on review of medical records, toxicology test results, investigational records and the fact that the autopsy revealed no other probable underlying cause of death or cause of death unresponsive to Mrs. Brown's death.
Brown's death was very similar to her mother's death in 2012. Whitney Houston was found dead on February 11, 2012. In March 2015, Brown's grandmother, Cissy Houston, was honest about her granddaughter's lack of recovery and asked for the public's prayers.

In a decision in the wrongful death lawsuit filed against Nick Gordon, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled that Gordon, who had no attorney, was required to pay $36,250,000 from the Brown estateAssociated Pressinformed. The estate's conservator, Bedelia Hargrove, won in absentia because Gordon continued to miss court deadlines for the lawsuit. NBC reported that he twice failed to appear in court.
