AC NOOB'S GUIDE: Guilds, Guild Shops, and Guild Banks in The Elder Scrolls Online - IT The Auction House (2023)

This is a basic beginner's guide with some instructions and maybe some downsides. This is for informational purposes only and is my opinion and has not been endorsed by ZOS staff. – PC game by the way.

**At the bottom of the page I add some do's and don'ts**

Guilds

In ESO you can be in up to 5 guilds. To talk in guild chat, type /g1 /g2 /g3 /g4 or /g5. Pressing "g" takes you to the guild screens. Your guild chats are numbered in the order you joined the guilds and you can see the order on the guild screen.

As you can see in this image I type:

/g1 to talk to the auction house

/g2 to talk about the Silk Road

/g3 to speak Enter the guild name here

/g4 to speak in RawlMart

/g5 to speak in Bleakrock Barter Co

I would recommend changing the color of the guild chats so each is a different color. This makes it easy to see which guild a discussion is coming from, even when you're on the move. Each guild has a maximum of 500 people. You can be in 5 guilds, so conversations can get chaotic if you're not careful. Without using plugins, you can change this in the social settings.

Press ESC, click SETTINGS, click Social and scroll down to customize your chat colors.

I would also recommend while you are on the guild home screen to read what it says there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read what it says. We all understand that you are new but we are not and we are getting very tired of repeating the same thing over and over again. Here's a breakdown of what the guild screen says. (Remember this is the guild home screen, to access it just press "g")

Do you see this name here? This is the "guild master" or "GM". This is her @name and you can contact her via in-game email if you have any questions or concerns. You can also see the guild's seniority here and see how many people are in a guild.

Each guild will have its own rules. The information I'm going to give here is pretty basic, but it doesn't apply to all guilds.

On my own guild's home screen, under UPDATES, commonly known as "MOTD" or "Message of the Day", I share information about my guild's draw and our auction. Your guild may also have updated information in this field.

I keep our information unchangeable in BACKGROUND INFORMATION: "About Us". Note that I have inactive guidelines here, as well as information about the guild house. Most of the guilds I belong to keep this information here as well, since it doesn't change. If your guild has weekly installments or sell requirements, you'll likely find them here. My guilds do not have such requirements.

Finally, on this page, I would like to highlight the guild trader. Each week, guilds have the opportunity to bid at a guild vendor/kiosk. This is an NPC that stays in the same place and sells items. The shop contains items sold by guild members. Anyone passing by can shop there, but only guild members can sell there. As you can see, the auction house has a guild trader in the Vomguard.

If you see someone speaking in all caps in guild chat, it's probably an officer or the GM and there's probably a guild event taking place. Complaining about a yelling cop might not be the best idea. You can double-check this information on the guild home screen by looking at the leaderboard.

This second tab at the top is the LIST. It will automatically show who is currently online, but you can change this by pressing the arrow next to "USER ID".

This shows the "officers" in a guild. Sorts people by their rank in the guild, not by who is online. If you have a question that you haven't been able to answer, it should usually help to email one of these people.

By the way, I have some plugins, so your screen might be a little different from mine, but not much.

Also, some guilds allow anyone to invite members. To do this, press "g", go to the list and press "e".

A box will appear where you can invite. Enter the person's name in the fun pop-up box and you can add your friends there.

REMEMBER that not all guilds have open invites, but some do.

GUILD SHOPS

You can access your guild store in 2 different ways. By talking to a regular banker (not the Outlaw Shelter or the Wizard, but those of a real bank) or by going to a real trader who rents your guild. BANKER is usually easier as you can access all your guild shops there. For the purposes of this guide, we will use BANK within each BANK. Click to interact with the banker and press "Guild Shop".

I use a shopping plugin called "Awesomeguildstore" so my store page looks very different than the base page. However, I deactivated my plugin for *SEO*...

Wait, I'm reloading without the plugin

Just for the record, I HIGHLY recommend the awesomeguildstore plugin, but my friend Wolfie wrote the plugin guide and I'll leave it to him.Regardless, here is the purchase screen without any plugins. If you look BELOW the shop page you will see some details:

Press "r" to search for something, press "f" to see your other guild shops, just click the one you want in this drop down box here

Now let me re-enable my plugin and I'll show you how to list an item for sale.

Plugins are reloading, please wait.

Oh, this is so much better. ok where was i YES! sell things!

So you can have 30 entries per guild. As you can see I have 24 out of 30 entries for the auction house. I have an item in my inventory and will be listing it for sale for this demo.

Please note that there is a listing fee for the sale of items. There is also a "house cut". Guilds have no control over these things. This cannot be changed by us and is controlled by ZOS.

ADDITIONAL SALES INFORMATION* –The joke clause

* Yes, I disabled my plugins to take screenshots and it was awful

Ok, here I am back to my sales screen. I have 4 items in my inventory and some gold in my pockets and I'm ready to list a few things. I have not activated any sales add-ons.

Note that for each of these items, the game has determined that there is no "value" for the item. "Value" is how much you can sell an item to an NPC.

Look at those flowers, Columbine. The game decided these have value! I could sell them to an NPC for 400 gold!

I will not sell them to an NPC. I list them in the dealer. So what happens when I click on it to add it to the store?

When I add the item to the guild shop, it multiplies the standard NPC resale value by three. 400 gold becomes 1200 gold. That would be if I sell the item for a total of 1200 gold. Notice that the item is a stack as shown by the first arrow. That's 200 of the same item (I think that's all a stack can have outside of the labor sac).

Also note that the listing fee has changed, the house cut has changed. The percentage stays the same, but the amount of gold has changed. I must have enough gold in my inventory to cover the cost of the listing fee.

Now I have the opportunity to list this item, but I need to verify something first. How much is this item really worth? What is the value of the player? We already know that the NPC's value is 2 gold per flower, but how much will another player pay for it? and how do i check?

Keep in mind that my plugins are mostly disabled so I will ask my guild chat to check the price or "PC". First I right click on the item and press "Link in chat".

This is me asking my guild about the player value of Columbine

And here we have some guilds responding

OK, wait a second. I have some friends here who use a few different plugins, but what I'm seeing is that the player value of just one of these flowers is closer to 250 gold per flower, not the 2 gold per flower that an NPC would give me.

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

ALL!!!!!!!!!

I will list 10 of them together for 250 gold per flower. So I click on the flowers again, press "Remove from list" and press "Split stack". I changed the stack size to 10 and clicked again.

If you tick the box under "Total price:" you can add the desired total price at the end. This also changed the listing fee and house cut. I now only have to pay the "listing fee". Please keep this in mind.

So I'm going to officially list this in the store by hitting "r". Please note that my listing numbers and the amount of gold in my inventory changed when I paid the "listing fee".

BUT WAIT!!! I LOVE MY FLOWERS. I CHANGED MY MIND, YOU MAY NEED IT FOR... things. So I click the box in the corner that says "LISTEN".

And there are my flowers! I'll hit the "X" in the corner to cancel my listing.

This box comes up asking me if I'm sure? It tells me I WILL NOT RECEIVE my referral fee. I agree, I press "e" or yes

The flowers will be sent back to me. It's slow sometimes, but here they are (a few minutes later)

If you buy something in the guild shop, it will be sent to you. Sometimes the mail takes a while to arrive, or "bangs". If so, it should show up when you travel to another area or log in again.

If something is sold by you, your gold will still arrive in the mail.

Some guild traders are more active than others. You can always see what's selling by checking the guild's sales history.

Press "g" to access your guild's home screen, press the "History" button in the top right corner.

Then press SALES to see what's selling and what's recently sold. You don't need a plugin for that.

see! I sold something! Perfect opportunity to show off how you get your gold when you sell an item!

This is what the email looks like when you receive an item for sale

Note that I also pay for the "house trim" because as I said, GMs and guilds have no control over fees or roster trims or anything like that.

Now I've traveled to email so let me get back to BANK to talk about GUILD BANK.

GUILD BANKS

Ok, so I clicked on guild bank and I'm going to show you a bank that I'm not the GM of because that's probably how you see a guild bank.

So that I can see the items in the guild bank. I can't see how much gold is there and no matter how many times I press the withdraw button, I can't withdraw anything from this bank.

Please see the "You may not withdraw" disclaimer above.

If your guild has this clue at the top, they will most likely use the items in their bank for raffles, auctions, or otherwise to raise money for the merchant. You can order these items, but guess what, they'll probably tell you you can't have anything there.

Some guilds have "open" guild banks. To be honest and blunt, there's rarely anything valuable in there because someone is always monopolizing all the good stuff and filling it with crap.

I won't delve further into this topic because if you need more guild banking information, you're probably at a more advanced level than described in this guide.

SOME LATEST TIPS AND TRICKS

Fast and cheap trip!!!!

You can press g, click list, and travel to any online player in your guild. Just click on the person's name and press "Travel to Player". This is a great way to discover new places, open your email, unravel, go to a sanctuary without paying, or just enjoy the loading screen!

Houses? Building? Search? YES!

Most guilds have their own "guild house". This would be an account with a "principal residence" to keep things that make life easier or better.

Check your guilds for info on who has their "guild house" (remember I've already shown mine in the guild info) and find that person on the list. Click on your name and then on “Visit Primary Residence”. The details about my fabulous house arealready explained in detail here.

Also, most guilds are full of people pushing you to research items or train gear. Don't be afraid to ask, but also PLEASE have materials to prepare these things, especially if they are expensive.

Also look for "Notes" next to a person's name.

See the little page next to my name on the list? I have this set so it tells people I can make it for them. There are probably a few people in your guild who have the same setup. You can usually edit this in your guild to add it if you're going to be crafting for people, or to let people know when you're going on vacation, or even if you buy certain items often!

TL; DR – Do's and Don'ts

  • YES - Say hello to everyone and introduce yourself if you wish. We are mostly friendly
  • DO NOT get mad if nobody greets you when you join a guild. You may not have any notifications for this guild.
  • CHECK the guild info pages when you join - some of us have websites, facebook groups, discords, all kinds of ways to interact
  • DO NOT make this weird, please don't join a guild and start ERP right away or something until you know how people think about it.
  • Enter the raffle or auction, or make small donations if you can. Guild maintenance can be very expensive. Vendors are very expensive, and those houses full of things cost A LOT. Any small donation helps and is likely to be appreciated.
  • DO NOT ask how much the dealer costs. It's a blind bidding process, and believe it or not, some people spy on other guilds to try and guess how much someone is spending on their merchant. Officers and GMs work hard to keep guilds with their vendors, and it's a very competitive proposition. Be aware that traders cost millions and millions of gold every week and please do not ask for an exact amount.
  • CHECK your guild's sales history to see what's selling and how often.
  • DO NOT beg people for free stuff as soon as you meet them. It's a little rough. This includes borrowing things that are in the bank.
  • ASK if there are any guild resources you can use if you don't see them in your guild information
  • Don't be afraid to ask for price checks! We all need them at some point!
  • Have a good time! It's a game 😀

Well that's all I have now. I plan to add another page with tips on food, training gear, research, horse feeding and all sorts of stuff, but today isn't the day.
